Bottles to Glasses 🍷🥛🪚
Finishing off a bottle of wine with a purpose!
Have you ever seen glasses that were recycled from wine bottles? Since I am trying to find ways to recycle and upcycle whenever I can, I thought this project - converting empty wine bottles to drinking glasses would be something worth learning. After a bit of research, I bought an inexpensive glass cutter and started saving wine bottles. I’m not much of a drinker, so I didn’t have many wine bottles to practice with, which is unfortunate since my first few attempts…okay, all of my attempts..did not go very well.
I am not sure what went wrong, but I could not get a clean cut. The resulting project, although smooth, was not level and wouldn't make a very good drinking class. I think I will stick to drinking wine (and anything else) out of regular glasses made by someone else. If anyone has done this and can share tips for the next time I try this, I’d love to hear them and give it another go.
🎶 Just a note about last week’s Ukelele post - one of my old friends, who is also a subscriber, followed up with me and shared information about a great online teacher and a collection of holiday songs. She learned to play the ukulele during the Covid lockdown and is now pretty good. If I can find the time, I will try to learn a song or two so we can play together sometime in the future. Here is a link I found online for a different method that looks easy, so I may try this next. I do wish the guy in the video was wearing cut-resistant gloves though - one slip, and he could get a pretty bad cut.
Save up a few bottles, buy a glass cutter (Amazon or craft store) and give it a try. Be careful and wear protective gloves.
PS - In the United States, Halloween is on Monday, so I am thinking about what I can learn or try related to Halloween next week. I am open to all suggestions. What is something unique and/or interesting I could add to my 50 Things list?
